An online blog can be used for practising your reading and writing skills while communicating with "bloggers" from around the world.
A blog is basically an interactive web page where issues are commented on and visitors can respond, often creating on online community around a topic of mutual interest. Blogs can range from personal pages like a public diary written by an individual to blogs run by institutions, academic courses or groups with a shared interest. There are many different types of blogs and software packages available free online to create a blog of your own.
To practise the language you are learning you could:
- set up your own blog, writing about your day-to-day experiences, sharing poems or photos, asking readers' opinions on topics that interest you in the language you are learning
- read other peoples' blogs and comment on them
- create a blog with other language learners or native speakers and write it together, for example, creating a story or writing about an interest you share
- read news and opinions provided by other bloggers from around the world and write about the news from your country in the language you are learning
